Some outdoor spaces come together over time. Others are choreographed from the start.
This project was more of a dance, a carefully timed collaboration between multiple teams to bring a shared vision to life. The homeowners were ready to create a space where everything, shade, seating, storage, and flow, worked together to support everyday living and weekend entertaining.
The homeowners wanted a setup that made it easy to entertain without sending guests inside. They needed an environment that supported real outdoor living, from quiet mornings by the pool to family parties and evening hangouts. Most of all, they were looking for a design that felt intentional, not a collection of parts, but one integrated outdoor living project.
Deckscapes was brought in to design and build exactly that: a composite deck, pool house, and pavilion, custom-fit to the footprint of their existing yard and crafted to blend with the home’s architecture and materials.
While the pool and patio contractor handled the layout of the hardscape and water features, Deckscapes was collaborating with the homeowner and the other team to design the upper-level composite deck, mapping stair alignments, and building out a poolside pavilion with a private bathroom and changing area.
Every element had to work together. We coordinated closely with the pool builder on grades, footings, and access points, ensuring that transitions between surfaces were smooth, views were unobstructed, and materials felt intentional. The result is a smart, connected outdoor living project built for real use.
This composite deck is a true extension of the home, connected at the main level and built to mirror the proportions and finishes of the existing architecture.
Instead of sticking to a standard square layout, we added a sweeping custom curve along the outer edge. It softens the geometry, creates visual movement, and subtly guides you toward the pool area below.
The deck frame, posts, and beams were fully wrapped in PVC trim for a clean finish and lasting durability. It’s low maintenance, high performance, and built to hold its shape for years.
Underneath, a drainage system keeps the space dry, setting the stage for future use as a shaded storage or flex zone. Above, the railing is framed in black with clean lines and an open feel that doesn’t block the view.
A wide staircase with closed risers connects the upper deck to the patio below, creating a smooth, uninterrupted transition from house to pool to pavilion. The two-toned contrast helps with visibility in low-light, creating a subtly safe space.
This is a shelter and a destination. Positioned poolside, the pavilion offers everything needed to keep the party outside: a lounge area, TV, fans, heaters, and space to dine or relax out of the sun.
The enclosed side of the structure houses a full bathroom and changing area. No more wet feet tracking through the house. No more waiting for a shower. This small pool house solves a big problem for pool-focused living.
Inside the pavilion, a tongue-and-groove fir ceiling adds warmth and texture. Recessed lights and ceiling fans keep it functional, while heaters extend usability well into the cooler months.
On the outside, we pulled cues from the home: shingles to match the roofline, siding that complements the house, and stone accents to tie it all together. Everything feels like it belongs.

The homeowners wanted a space they could enjoy, not one they had to constantly maintain. Composite decking was the obvious choice. It resists moisture, fading, and splintering, which makes it ideal for a pool-adjacent installation. The PVC trim adds another layer of protection by wrapping all exposed framing, beams, and posts in a clean, durable finish.
We paid close attention to how each surface connected with the next. The colors of the deck, pavilion siding, and stonework were chosen to coordinate with the home’s exterior. The result is a space that looks like it was always meant to be there. Even the pavilion roof was shingled to match the house, pulling everything together visually.
The tongue-and-groove fir ceiling inside the pavilion adds warmth and texture overhead, while stone accents around the bar and columns ground the structure and echo the tones of the surrounding patio. Every detail reinforces the balance of utility and design, making the space feel polished without being overdone.
Today, this outdoor space functions like a second home. The deck is where drinks and dinner happen. The pavilion is the hangout zone. The pool and patio connect it all with easy, uninterrupted flow.
Everything the homeowners asked for is now outside: a place to sit in the sun, eat in the shade, change out of a swimsuit, or watch a game by the pool. And because it’s built from low-maintenance, high-performance materials, it’s easy to enjoy without constant upkeep.
This isn’t a project built in phases. It’s a complete vision executed as one. Every piece fits because it was designed that way from the start.
